BCOC Constitution Update

Upcoming Presentations & Vote

The BCOC Constitution, originally written in the 1970s, has guided our church's structure and mission for decades. While there have been a few updates over the years—most notably in 2012 with the addition of a Mission Statement and the replacement of “A Statement of Faith” with “A Confession of Faith”—the Constitution has never received a complete, line-by-line review.

In August 2024, the Council on Mission (COM), following the completion of our most recent Long-Range Plan, formed the Constitution Review Committee. This committee was tasked with conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the document.

After months of prayerful work, careful revisions, and collaboration with COM, the revised Constitution is now ready to be presented to the congregation for review and, ultimately, a vote.

To help all members understand the proposed changes and have a voice in the process, several events have been scheduled. These include presentations, Q&A opportunities, and a formal vote later this year. We invite everyone to attend one or more of the events below:

How to Access the Proposed Constitution

The proposed Constitution will be available for review and/or download online via the church website. Printed copies will also be available at each presentation and Q&A session.

This is a significant moment in the life of our church. The proposed revisions aim to clarify our governing document, reflect our current vision, and better equip us for ministry in the years to come. We hope every member will take time to read the proposed Constitution, attend one of the Q&A sessions, and prayerfully consider the upcoming vote.
