CONTEMPLATIVE SPIRITUALITY

LED BY LAMON BROWN

Could you use a little silence in your life? This class might be for you. We normally have two periods of silence separated by readings from mystics, nature writers, and other contemplative types. Some of our readings this past year came from Richard Rohr, Mary Oliver, John O’Donohue, Michael Guite, Stever Garnaas-Holmes, Thich Nhat Hanh, Brian McLaren, Scott Cairns, John Muir, Howard Thurman, Meister Eckhart, and Sarah Davison. We refresh our knowledge (or learn for the first time) about contemplative practices like silence, centering prayer, lectio divina (holy reading), etc. All are welcome, because we are all beginners when it comes to contemplative spirituality.

DIALOGUE

LED BY LARRY FITZGERALD AND JEAN THOMASON

The Dialogue Sunday School class is a diverse group of adults of all ages who explore issues of personal spirituality in an informal and supportive setting. This class will read and discuss several books throughout the year by various authors. The dialogue is always open to new people and new ideas.

FROM WORSHIP TO THE WORLD

VIA ZOOM

For those who are worshiping with us at home, we invite you to join us for an online Sunday School class where class members have a post-worship reflection and discussion.

GENERATIONS: A WRITTEN SUNDAY SCHOOL

LED BY MARK BURGE

Each week a written conversation about the scripture is generated and shared over email. Mark Burge begins with personal reflections on the scripture of the week. Readers participate in the discussion as much as they like.

Topics include poverty, immigration, racism, bias, the criminal justice system, gun violence and environmental justice issues. This is a discussion-based class where all opinions are welcome. A Zoom option is available.

SEEKERS

LED BY ANGELA FERGUSON AND MORGAN PONDER

The Seekers class studies a passage of Scripture each week. Participants offer a deep well of accumulated experience from which to draw. They are not concerned with arriving at final answers, but in helping each other work on the important questions each faces. A Zoom option is available.
