GODLY PLAY

Preschool children are introduced to sacred stories, and encouraged to wonder and reflect about what they have heard. Godly Play allows children to learn by discovery, create sacred space, and build community. Peggy Sanderford Ponder, Lynette Sandley, CJ Sandley, Molly Garrett, Suzanne Martin, and Serra Williams lead Godly Play.

ELEMENTARY AGES

Elementary children learn as scripture and faith are woven into experiential storytelling and interactions. Their teachers are sensitive leaders who seek to meet the needs of a wide range of learners. Most of all, children will know they are cared for by loving adults and the God in whose image they are made.

1st – 3rd Graders are taught by Ann Carol Mann, Kelly McElroy, Marsi Hays
4th and 5th Graders are taught by John Hollis, Dennis Wilson, Jasmine Martin, and Janet Goodwin

YOUTH (GRADES 6-12)

Starting in Fall 2024, 6th graders are moving into our lively youth group. This change will lead to two Sunday school classes: Middle (6th – 8th grades) and High (9th – 12th grades). Youth Sunday school is designed to meet the spiritual and social needs of Middle and High school students. Students are challenged to respond authentically and creatively as they develop a deeper understanding of scripture and walking with God while cultivating their own unique faith community. A team of gifted adults share teaching responsibilities monthly: Scott Looney, Ann Elizabeth McInvale, Lindsey Bloodworth, Alisha Damron Seruyange, and Andrew Reed.

They follow the lectionary-based curriculum for teens called, Feasting on the Word. Weekly, they explore scripture through discussion, activities, art, and prayer experiences.
